Odell Beckham Jr. is returning to the New York Giants, the team announced Monday after holding a veteran group workout.
The Giants met with Beckham numerous times over the offseason before making the news official Monday. Giants first-year head coach John Harbaugh and Beckham have a history dating back to the 2023 season in Baltimore, where Beckham caught 35 catches for 565 yards and three touchdowns.
Beckham is reuniting with the team that first drafted him 12th overall in the first round of the NFL Draft in 2014. Beckham was truly an electric game-changer in his early years with the Giants, posting 1,300-plus yards and 10-plus touchdowns in each of his first three years in the league.
Beckham’s final two seasons in New York were marred by injuries and controversy before he was ultimately traded to the Cleveland Browns in a deal that allowed the Giants to draft defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, who was recently traded to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Although Beckham, 33, won’t be the same No. 1 receiver he was during his first stint with the Giants, his presence and experience will be invaluable to a young and banged-up receiver room.
The Giants also signed receivers Braxton Berrios and JuJu Smith-Schuster to one-year deals. The signings of Beckham, Berrios and Smith-Schuster come just days after the news that receiver and kick returner Gunner Olszewski tore his Achilles during an OTA practice.
The added receivers will bring some much-needed competition and depth to the Giants’ wide receiver room while Pro Bowl receiver Malik Nabers (knee) and Darius Slayton (core muscle) rehab from injuries.
