Buffalo Bills running back Nyheim Hines, whom they acquired last season, has suffered a serious injury. Reportedly, the injury to his knee is so significant that the team is already ready to rule him out for the entire season.
The NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Hines was drafted in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. He served as the primary backup behind Jonathan Taylor until 2022, when he was traded to the Buffalo Bills for Zack Moss and a conditional sixth round pick.
The exact nature or cause of the knee injury is yet unknown, but it reportedly happened off-site (i.e. not during practice or at the Bills’ facility). During his nine games as a Bill, Hines rushed for -3 yards and had 53 yards receiving and one receiving touchdown. His crowning achievement came in Damar Hamlin’s return to Highmark Stadium, when he had two return touchdowns.
