Notable Panthers Madden 24 Ratings

Publish Date: July 26, 2023

Madden 24 is less than a month away, with the game launching on August 18th. This means the portion of the offseason where players and fans alike voice their displeasure in ratings has arrived. Madden has a longstanding system of rating players based on their ability, with 99 being the best. As one might expect, fanbases and even the players themselves often take issue with these. Between young talent and new faces, let’s look over some of the most interesting Panthers Madden 24 ratings.

Brian Burns, 87 Overall

Brian Burns is the highest rated player on the team at an 87. He’s just outside of the top 100 players in the league, and he’s seventh among players listed as “left outside linebackers.” He’s the only Panther listed as a “superstar player,” and one of 71 in the entire game. This is an elite tier of players, noted as the best in the game, aside from the 47 “Superstar X-Factor” players.

Burns being deemed the Panthers’ best player is no surprise, but it’s easy to argue that he should have been higher. This is Burns’ third straight year of having an initial rating in the high 80s.

Derrick Brown, 84 Overall

After another season of progression on the field, defensive tackle Derrick Brown was rewarded with a three point rating boost. His 84 overall is good enough to be tied for third amongst Panthers players. In the game he is listed as a “right end,” and has the 12th best overall at his position.

The Auburn product has steadily improved throughout his NFL career, and his ratings have reflected that. His rating has gone up in each Madden release since he started as a 78 overall. He fills out the top three defensive players on the team, along with Burns and Shaq Thompson.

Jaycee Horn, 83 Overall

Possibly the biggest head-scratcher on the whole roster, Jaycee Horn’s 83 has him in a tie for sixth best on the roster. More notably, this places him outside the top 20 among cornerbacks in the upcoming game. Just as shocked as everyone else, Horn took to Twitter to note his displeasure.

Horn’s level of play has given him every right to be upset with the rating. He had the second-best opponent passer rating allowed in the entire NFL at a 52.6, according to Pro Football Focus. That’s better than Sauce Gardner, Jalen Ramsey and Jaire Alexander, who are all rated in the top five at the position. A solid healthy year will hopefully result in more recognition for Horn.

Adam Thielen, 83 Overall

Comfortably the highest rated wide receiver on the team, Adam Thielen comes in at an 83 overall. The former Viking came over to Carolina in the offseason, and seems to have maintained his strong reputation. Despite a five point rating drop since the last Madden release, he’s still in the top 35 receivers in the game. He’s also rated ninth among all receivers with the “slot receiver” archetype.

Among skill position players in Carolina, he’s one of just three rated at an 80+, along with fellow new arrivals Miles Sanders and Hayden Hurst. He’s dropped some in recent years, but it seems the folks at EA still respect Thielen’s play for the most part.

Bryce Young, 74 Overall

Bryce Young’s 74 overall has him ranked as the 22nd best player on the team. This puts him ahead of veteran quarterback and Panthers’ backup Andy Dalton, who is listed as a 72. This is pretty standard for a rookie quarterback taken towards the top of the draft.

Some recent fellow first overall picks were ranked higher, such as Trevor Lawrence and Joe Burrow who were given a 78 and 76 respectively. Likewise, former Panther Baker Mayfield actually topped them all at an 81. Kyler Murray, noted as having a similar build to Young, was given a 73 in his first season. A strong rookie year could almost certainly get Young in the 80s by the release of next year’s Madden.
