Another NFL preseason holdout comes to an end as the 49ers have officially signed the reigning AP Defensive Player of the Year to a new contract. Nick Bosa has signed a five-year, $170 million contract extension with the team.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Wednesday.
Bosa was the second overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Niners. He immediately won Defensive Rookie of the Year during his first season, and has been a Pro Bowler three of the four years he’s been in the NFL. In 2020, he played only two games which made him ineligible for the clean sweep.
In 2022-2023, Bosa played in 16 games, grabbing 51 combined tackles, 19 of them for a loss. He also grabbed 18.5 sacks, which led the entire league. The previous year, he racked up 15.5. He’s played in three postseason games in each league in which he’s been healthy, grabbing a total of 38 tackles and eight sacks.
