NFL Week 9 Picks Against the Spread

Publish Date: October 31, 2023

NFL Week 9 is here. Picking NFL games straight up is hard enough, but picking against the spread is even tougher. Here are the NFL week 9 picks against the spread. (Spreads are from Tallysight as of Tuesday morning)

Last Week: 10-5-1

Season: 74-43-5

Thursday Night Football

Tennessee Titans at Pittsburgh Steelers (-3)

Will Levis looked good in his first start, but things will be tougher in his second. He will be going up against a good pass rush on the road. The Steelers can defend their home turf and cover.

Pick: Steelers

Sunday Morning

Miami Dolphins at Kansas City Chiefs (-2.5) (Game in Frankfurt, Germany)

The Chiefs are coming off a bad loss to the Broncos. Patrick Mahomes has the flu and traveling across the ocean will make things even tougher. Miami will be motivated to beat a good team, as they have been criticized for not performing against quality opponents.

Pick: Dolphins

Sunday Afternoon

Minnesota Vikings at Atlanta Falcons (-4.5)

The Vikings will be without Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson for this game. Atlanta has their own offensive issues, but should be able to win and cover at home.

Pick: Falcons

Chicago Bears at New Orleans Saints (-8.5)

Tyson Bagent will be starting for the Bears again this week. The Saints’ defense will make things tough for him and their secondary will give up too many big plays to keep it close against the Saints.

Pick: Saints

Seattle Seahawks at Baltimore Ravens (-5.5)

The Seahawks have traveled a lot this season. Traveling across the country isn’t a recipe for success. Baltimore’s offense is starting to take off and continue doing so this week.

Pick: Ravens

Arizona Cardinals at Cleveland Browns (-8)

Cleveland will likely win at home, but this is a big number to cover for a team that has had issues on offense. Arizona will start a new quarterback this week, but whether it is Kyler Murray or Clayton Tune, they are still a feisty team.

Pick: Cardinals

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Houston Texans (-2.5)

Houston is 2-1 at home this season. Demeco Ryans has done a great job getting the most out of his team so far this season and C.J. Stroud can have a good game.

Pick: Texans

Washington Commanders at New England Patriots (-3)

Washington has a good defensive line and can pressure Mac Jones into mistakes. The Patriots will also have limited weapons now that Kendrick Bourne is out for the season.

Pick: Commanders

Los Angeles Rams at Green Bay Packers (-3)

Matt Stafford has a thumb injury and is likely out for this game. They have Brett Rypien who has some experience. The Rams will be going up against a reeling Packers team and could still win with a backup quarterback.

Pick: Rams

Sunday Evening

Indianapolis Colts (-2.5) at Carolina Panthers

The Panthers notched their first win of the season last week against the Texans. They were coming off of a bye and they don’t have that luxury this week. Indianapolis can run the ball well and win the game.

Pick: Colts

Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles (-3)

Philadelphia has not been playing their best football this season, despite their good record. Jalen Hurts is turning over the ball too much. Dallas is coming off a great game against the Rams and can keep the momentum going.

Pick: Cowboys

New York Giants at Las Vegas Raiders (-2.5)

Daniel Jones is cleared to play, but the Giants are struggling. They just traded Leonard Williams. Las Vegas also has issues, but at least get to play at home.

Pick: Raiders

Sunday Night Football

Buffalo Bills at Cincinnati Bengals (-3)

The Bills are struggling right now, while the Bengals are starting to hit their stride. There will be a lot of emotions with this game after last season, but Cincinnati should cover.

Pick: Bengals

Monday Night Football

Los Angeles Chargers (-3) at New York Jets

Until the Jets get better quarterback play, they shouldn’t be trusted to win against decent teams. The Chargers can win and cover on the road.

Pick: Chargers
