NFL Week 9 Picks Against the Spread

Publish Date: November 1, 2022

NFL Week 9 is here. Picking NFL games straight up is hard enough, but picking against the spread is even tougher. Here are the NFL week 9 picks against the spread. (Spreads are from Tallysight as of Tuesday morning)

Last Week: 8-7, Season: 58-62-3

Thursday Night Football

Philadelphia Eagles (-13) at Houston Texans

The Philadelphia Eagles are one of the best well-built teams in the league, while the Texans are not. Even on a short week on the road, the Eagles should win this one pretty easily.

Pick: Eagles

Sunday Afternoon

Minnesota Vikings (-3.5) at Washington Commanders

Minnesota is one of the quietest 6-1 teams in the league, but they have played great this season. Washington has had an up-and-down season, but with Taylor Heinicke in, it might be tough to keep up with the Vikings’ offense.

Pick: Vikings

Buffalo Bills (-12) at New York Jets

The Bills didn’t play well against the Packers on the road and still won by 10 points. They should be able to win by two touchdowns against the Jets, who have played well this season, but seem to have some underlying issues.

Pick: Bills

Green Bay Packers (-3.5) at Detroit Lions

Green Bay has had injuries and the team hasn’t looked its best. The best recipe to get this fixed is to play the defense allowing the most points in the NFL. If the Packers can’t win and cover in this game, they are in a worse spot than fans could’ve imagined before the season.

Pick: Packers

Las Vegas Raiders (-1.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars

Things didn’t go well for the Raiders in week 8, as they got blown out by the Saints. The team has been erratic this season though and can very well bounce back and win on the road at Jacksonville. What will make it easier is that the Jaguars are returning from London this week.

Pick: Raiders

Indianapolis Colts at New England Patriots (-5.5)

The Patriots have a quarterback controversy, but still have a quality defense and running game. With the Colts starting Sam Ehlinger, the defense can focus on stopping the run and cover in this game.

Pick: Patriots

Miami Dolphins (-5) at Chicago Bears

Over the last two weeks, Chicago has played better and has fit their offense to Justin Fields‘s strengths. The question is whether they will keep it up. Miami can focus on stopping the run and it will be tough for the Bears’ young secondary to stop the Dolphins’ offensive weapons.

Pick: Dolphins

Los Angeles Chargers (-3) at Atlanta Falcons

While the Falcons have played teams tough and should be able to run the ball on the Chargers, it will be tough for them to keep up offensively. Justin Herbert and the Chargers’ offense, which is getting healthier can help win and cover.

Pick: Chargers

Sunday Evening

Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals (-1.5)

The Cardinals still seem like they have plenty of issues in the locker room and on the field. Seattle on the other hand seems to have good chemistry and are outperforming expectations. The Seahawks can get the win on the road.

Pick: Seahawks

Los Angeles Rams at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-3)

Both of these teams were contenders last season, but are struggling this season. It is both offensive and defensive failures for each team. It should be a close game, so taking the points is the smart call.

Pick: Rams

Sunday Night Football

Tennessee Titans at Kansas City Chiefs (-12)

The Titans traditionally want to get the lead early, then start chewing clock. That is extremely hard to do against the Chiefs. Kansas City can generate some explosive plays and cover in this game with the Titans struggling to keep up.

Pick: Chiefs

Monday Night Football

Baltimore Ravens (-2) at New Orleans Saints

Baltimore has seemingly overcome their early season struggles to finish games. They should be able to exploit the Saints, who are dealing with injuries all over their roster.

Pick: Ravens
