NFL Week 8 is here. Picking NFL games straight up is hard enough, but picking against the spread is even tougher. Here are the NFL week 8 picks against the spread. (Spreads are from Tallysight as of Tuesday morning)
Last week: 8-6, Season: 50-55-3
Baltimore Ravens (-2) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers do not look good on either side of the football. Until they figure it out, they should not be trusted. Baltimore is coming off a win where they had to hang on in the fourth quarter, which is huge for them given how the season has gone. They are the smart pick in this game.
Pick: Ravens
Denver Broncos vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (-3) (Game in London, England)
With or without Russell Wilson, the Broncos haven’t looked good this season. The Jaguars have cooled since their hot start, but they are currently playing well and are familiar with playing in London.
Pick: Jaguars
Pittsburgh Steelers at Philadelphia Eagles (-10.5)
Over the last two weeks, the Steelers have beat the spread two times and defeated the Buccaneers outright. They can at least keep it close in this battle for Pennsylvania, even if the Eagles win.
Pick: Steelers
Arizona Cardinals at Minnesota Vikings (-3.5)
The Vikings are undefeated at home so far this season and can cover the field goal spread. Arizona looks like they continually have problems on the sideline and a new Call of Duty game just came out for those that think it affects Kyler Murray’s play.
Pick: Vikings
Miami Dolphins (-3) at Detroit Lions
The Lions are freefalling right now. Their defense is very bad, but even when they play well, the offense will sputter. Miami has Tua Tagovailoa back at quarterback, which means they should be able to put up a lot of points against the Lions.
Pick: Dolphins
Las Vegas Raiders (-2) at New Orleans Saints
After a rough start to the season, the Raiders have a chance to get some momentum going. The Saints don’t look great with Andy Dalton at quarterback and even if Jameis Winston is able to come back, playing with a back injury won’t be easy.
Pick: Raiders
New England Patriots (-2) at New York Jets
It looks like the Patriots have a quarterback controversy on their hands. Pair that with the fact that the Jets get extra time to prepare for this game and New York should be able to pull off the upset.
Pick: Jets
Chicago Bears at Dallas Cowboys (-9.5)
The Bears looked good against the Patriots, but the game and weather fit their style. Dallas has their defense ready to rock and an extra day to get ready for the game. Also Dak Prescott will have his second start since being out with a thumb injury, which will allow him to get back on track.
Pick: Cowboys
Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons (-4.5)
Atlanta simply refuses to throw the football and utilize their weapons. For that reason, the Panthers can keep this game close. Atlanta may win by a field goal, but it’s hard to project them winning by much more with the way the offense is constructed, along with plenty of defensive injuries.
Pick: Panthers
Tennessee Titans (-2) at Houston Texans
Tennessee is a much more talented team than Houston and should be able to cover the spread easily.
Pick: Titans
San Francisco 49ers (-2) at Los Angeles Rams
Both teams haven’t played their best this season, but it is wild that the 49ers are favored on the road when the Rams are coming off a bye. This is the Rams chance to rekindle what got them a Super Bowl a season ago.
Pick: Rams
New York Giants at Seattle Seahawks (-3)
Geno Smith has played really well this season and the Seahawks could push for a playoff spot. With the Giants flying across the country and having to keep up with the Seahawks’ passing attack, Seattle can cover.
Pick: Seahawks
Washington Commanders at Indianapolis Colts (-3)
Sam Ehlinger has been named the new starter for the Colts. They will try to keep the ball on the ground and move the chains to get the win. Washington is coming off of a win over Green Bay and quarterback Taylor Heinicke has injected some life into the team. The Commanders can pull off the upset.
Pick: Commanders
Green Bay Packers at Buffalo Bills (-10.5)
The spread of 10.5 points is a big one, but the Bills are at home and are coming off a bye. Also, the Packers continue to play bad and don’t seem to have great gameplans. The Bills should cover, unless the Packers show something they haven’t yet done this season.
Pick: Bills
Cincinnati Bengals (-3.5) at Cleveland Browns
Cincinnati seems to have found their stride over the last few weeks. The Browns are battling with Jacoby Brissett at quarterback, but it’s not enough, especially with the defense giving up the most points in the division.
Pick: Bengals
