The NFL season is here. Picking NFL games straight up is hard enough, but picking against the spread is even tougher. Here are NFL week 3 picks against the spread. (Spreads are from Tallysight as of Tuesday morning)
Last week: 6-10
Season: 12-20
Atlanta Falcons at Green Bay Packers (-6)
The Falcons are finally getting Michael Penix Jr. back from injury, but they have to dig themselves out of a hole. Green Bay has had some hard-fought battles in their first few weeks, but they should be able to take advantage of a rusty quarterback at home.
Pick: Packers
Kansas City Chiefs (-10.5) at Miami Dolphins
While both of their first two games have been on the road, the Dolphins have lost them by double digits. Kansas City seems to have a good groove going with the running game opening up other parts of the offense. They should win and cover on the road.
Pick: Chiefs
Carolina Panthers (-2.5) at Cleveland Browns
The Panthers had a “get-right” game against the Falcons where their defense showed some potential. That can give them confidence to limit the Browns. So far, Carolina’s offense is also the second-best in the league at 35.5 points per game.
Pick: Panthers
Cincinnati Bengals (-3.5) at Pittsburgh Steelers
Cincinnati is undefeated and has the defense playing well. The offense still hasn’t hit their stride, but they may against the Steelers who are still without one of their corners Joey Porter Jr.
Pick: Bengals
New England Patriots at Jacksonville Jaguars (-2.5)
The Jaguars had a tough game on the road against Denver, but played well. Coming back home, they should be refocused. The Patriots won’t have A.J. Brown, which could make it hard for the offense to score on the road.
Pick: Jaguars
Houston Texans (-2.5) at Indianapolis Colts
After starting 0-2, the Texans are desperate for a win. It hasn’t been easy playing the Bills and Bengals in the first two weeks, but now the schedule eases up a little, as they play the Colts. The defense should play their best game of the season and help them get the win.
Pick: Texans
Seattle Seahawks (-7) at Washington Commanders
Washington will be without Jayden Daniels, but Marcus Mariota played decently against the Cowboys in relief. Seattle will likely win, but they don’t have their full offense unlocked with Sam Darnold being injured. The Commanders should keep it close.
Pick: Commanders
Tennessee Titans at New York Giants (-3)
The Giants are 0-2 and will likely be starting Jameis Winston at quarterback. New York can still win and cover as their pass rush can really limit what Tennessee can do on offense.
Pick: Giants
New York Jets at Detroit Lions (-7)
Detroit can score, but they also give up points. The Jets are playing relatively well this season, as they have a win and nearly knocked off the Eagles. they may be able to keep this one close.
Pick: Jets
Los Angeles Chargers at Buffalo Bills (-7)
The Chargers seem lost right now and the Bills are rolling on all cylinders. Buffalo can protect their home turf and cover, especially with Josh Allen playing so well mentally.
Pick: Bills
Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers (-8.5)
San Francisco dominated the Dolphins, but that is what they are supposed to do. They should be able to win this game, but it is in the division. Arizona kept things close for a while against the Seahawks and can keep it relatively close the whole game against the 49ers.
Pick: Cardinals
Minnesota Vikings at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2)
Tampa Bay is another team that is desperate for a win after starting 0-2. The Brian Flores defense does create issues, but the Bucs will be going up against a Vikings’ offense that has their own fair share of issues.
Pick: Buccaneers
Baltimore Ravens (-3) at Dallas Cowboys
Dallas got a win over Washington, but still have plenty to clean up on defense. They can still beat the Ravens in a shootout, or at the very least keep it close at home, especially after Baltimore just lost at home to the Saints.
Pick: Cowboys
Las Vegas Raiders at New Orleans Saints (-3)
Las Vegas has played well in the first two weeks, but this is a tough road test. Tyler Shough has played well, finding Chris Olave often. They are riding high off the win over the Ravens and can keep that momentum going.
Pick: Saints
Los Angeles Rams (-2.5) at Denver Broncos
The Rams got things back on track against the Giants. Even though they are on a short week, they should be able to go on the road and beat the Broncos, who have scored just 15 points per game.
Pick: Rams
Philadelphia Eagles (-3) at Chicago Bears
Philadelphia is not playing very great football right now, but they are now squaring off against Tyson Bagent for the Bears. The Eagles should be able to get things right, especially going up against a Bear’s defense that has some holes.
Pick: Eagles
