NFL Week 3 is here. Picking NFL games straight up is hard enough, but picking against the spread is even tougher. Here are the NFL week 3 picks against the spread. (Spreads are from Tallysight as of Tuesday morning)
Last week: 10-4-2
Season: 19-11-2
NFL Week 3 Picks Against the Spread
Thursday Night Football
New York Giants at San Francisco 49ers (-10.5)
The Giants had to struggle to come back and defeat the Cardinals. They have another road game on a short week against the 49ers. San Francisco will make things very tough for the Giants offense, who will likely be without Saquon Barkley.
Pick: 49ers
Sunday Afternoon
Indianapolis Colts at Baltimore Ravens (-7.5)
Baltimore got a big win on the road over Cincinnati to give them an early season lead in their division. Unfortunately, more and more players are going down injured every week. It could make it hard to win by more than a touchdown against the Colts, who may be without Anthony Richardson, but still have Gardner Minshew. The Ravens will win, but the spread is pretty large given the injuries.
Pick: Colts
Denver Broncos at Miami Dolphins (-6.5)
Miami is firing on all cylinders as they improved to 2-0. The Dolphins don’t even have Jalen Ramsey back from injury yet, but are out to a lead in the AFC East. While Denver has some solid defensive players, Miami’s playmakers will help open up the game.
Pick: Dolphins
New England Patriots (-3) at New York Jets
While the Jets didn’t look good in week 2, they were playing the Cowboys on the road. New England has played teams tough this season, but haven’t gotten over the hump for a win. It will likely be a defensive struggle, so the Jets have the chance to keep it close, even if the Patriots win.
Pick: Jets
Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars (-9.5)
Houston rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud has played well despite being pressured a lot. Things will be tough on the road though and Josh Allen should impact the game in a huge way. After losing in week 2, the Jaguars will get back on track.
Pick: Jaguars
Tennessee Titans at Cleveland Browns (-3)
Cleveland took a bad blow when Nick Chubb injured his leg against the Steelers. They are also coming off of a short week. Tennessee can keep it close with their running game and may win the game outright.
Pick: Titans
Atlanta Falcons at Detroit Lions (-3)
The Falcons defeated the Packers at home last week, but the difference in this game will be the quarterback play. Jared Goff can make key throws that Desmond Ridder can’t, which will make it hard for the Falcons to keep up.
Pick: Lions
New Orleans Saints at Green Bay Packers (-2)
The Saints are coming off a short week, but their defense has played well. Derek Carr is getting more and more comfortable in the New Orleans offense and should be able to exploit the Green Bay defensive scheme.
Pick: Saints
Buffalo Bills (-6.5) at Washington Commanders
The Commanders new offense is starting to show signs of life. Unfortunately, things will get tougher this week as they take on the Bills. Buffalo bounced back from a tough week 1 to dominate the Raiders and should keep things going against the Commanders.
Pick: Bills
Los Angeles Chargers (-1) at Minnesota Vikings
The Chargers have come up just short this season and are 0-2. Minnesota is 0-2 as well. Los Angeles has looked good and just need to keep the ball in Justin Herbert’s hands to get them to victory.
Pick: Chargers
Sunday Evening
Carolina Panthers at Seattle Seahawks (-6.5)
Carolina is going to struggle this year with a rookie quarterback and an offensive line that is having trouble protecting him. Seattle got back on track in week 2 with a win on the road.
Pick: Seahawks
Chicago Bears at Kansas City Chiefs (-13)
The Bears have been playing awful to start the year. The Chiefs will win the game, but the spread is pretty big. Chicago can focus on running the ball with Justin Fields to improve their chances.
Pick: Bears
Dallas Cowboys (-12.5) at Arizona Cardinals
Arizona just put Budda Baker on IR. They are playing hard, but their tanking strategy will pay off. It will be hard for them to move the ball against the Dallas defense and the Cowboys’ offense will capitalize.
Pick: Cowboys
Sunday Night Football
Pittsburgh Steelers (-1) at Las Vegas Raiders
Pittsburgh got a big win over the Browns on Monday Night Football in week 2 which showed the strength of their defense. Their offense still needs plenty of work, but they should be enough to defeat the Raiders on the road.
Pick: Steelers
Monday Night Football
Philadelphia Eagles (-5.5) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
While Tampa Bay has won two games already, matching up against the reigning NFC champions is a different level. Philadelphia can run the ball, control the clock and cover.
Pick: Eagles
Los Angeles Rams at Cincinnati Bengals (-1.5)
The Rams have found new offensive playmakers this season and look much improved. Cincinnati has struggled in the first two weeks of the season. Joe Burrow is nursing a calf injury and the offense is failing to be explosive. They should be able to get back on track and get the win at home.
Pick: Bengals
