NFL Week 2 is here. Picking NFL games straight up is hard enough, but picking against the spread is even tougher. Here are the NFL week 2 picks against the spread. (Spreads are from Tallysight as of Tuesday morning)
Last Week: 9-4-3
Thursday Night Football
Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins (-2)
The Bills won against the Cardinals in week 1, but they didn’t look great. They had to adjust to losing so many players from last year’s team. Miami also struggled with Jacksonville, but ended up winning. The Dolphins should be able to take advantage of new pieces in Buffalo’s secondary.
Pick: Dolphins
Sunday Afternoon
New Orleans Saints at Dallas Cowboys (-6)
New Orleans looked good in week 1, but it was against the Panthers. Dallas dominated the Browns and their defense should be able to slow the Saints down enough to cover.
Pick: Cowboys
Las Vegas Raiders at Baltimore Ravens (-9.5)
The Ravens took the Chiefs to the wire in the opening game of the season. They will likely defeat the Raiders, but Las Vegas will want to keep it a low-scoring game.
Pick: Raiders
New York Giants at Washington Commanders (-2)
Jayden Daniels played well in his debut, even if it was a loss. The Giants looked awful against the Vikings in week 1. Daniels can use his legs to help the Commanders win at home.
Pick: Commanders
Los Angeles Chargers (-6) at Carolina Panthers
Carolina showed no signs of improvement from last season in week 1. They were blown out by the Saints. On the other hand, the Chargers played well against the Raiders in the first game under Jim Harbaugh. The Chargers should take care of business on the road.
Pick: Chargers
Indianapolis Colts (-3.5) at Green Bay Packers
Jordan Love will miss a few weeks after getting injured in week 1. That means Malik Willis is in line to start for the Packers. The Colts played well in a loss to the Texans and can take advantage of the backup quarterback situation.
Pick: Colts
San Francisco 49ers (-6) at Minnesota Vikings
The 49ers will be on a short week, but they had no issues in week 1. While the Vikings defense will pose some problems, their offense will not have a firepower to keep up.
Pick: 49ers
Cleveland Browns at Jacksonville Jaguars (-3.5)
While the Browns’ defense still has a lot of potential this season, their offense looked dreadful against the Cowboys. The Jaguars only lost to the Dolphins by three on the road and looked improved from last season.
Pick: Jaguars
Seattle Seahawks (-3.5) at New England Patriots
The Patriots pulled off the upset in week 1 over the Bengals. They still have a talent deficiency on the roster as they go through their rebuild. Seattle should be able to win and cover on the road.
Pick: Seahawks
New York Jets (-4) at Tennessee Titans
The Jets didn’t look great against the 49ers on Monday Night Football. Against the Titans, their defense will be able to force turnovers and help them cover.
Pick: Jets
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions (-7)
In week 1, Tampa Bay’s offense looked great against Washington. The Lions won a tough game against the Rams. In a rematch of the playoffs last season, the Buccaneers can keep it close, even if the Lions win.
Pick: Buccaneers
Sunday Afternoon
Los Angeles Rams at Arizona Cardinals (-1)
Both these teams lost close games in week 1. The Cardinals are still improving, while the Rams should get good play out of their veterans.
Pick: Rams
Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs (-6)
Cincinnati laid an egg against the Patriots in week 1. They have a lot to figure out and playing the Chiefs won’t help. Kansas City can run the ball and cover the spread.
Pick: Chiefs
Pittsburgh Steelers (-2.5) at Denver Broncos
Bo Nix didn’t show he can stretch the field vertically in his first career start. Pittsburgh will stack the box and get a road win over the Broncos.
Pick: Steelers
Sunday Night Football
Chicago Bears at Houston Texans (-7)
The Bears defense looked good in week 1. They should be able to pressure quarterbacks more this season. Houston can protect their home turf and win, but a close game could be in the cards.
This pick: Bears
Monday Night Football
Atlanta Falcons at Philadelphia Eagles (-6.5)
While Kirk Cousins didn’t have a great debut, the Falcons have added to their roster this offseason. The Eagles won against the Packers in Brazil, but didn’t look good doing it.
Pick: Falcons
