NFL Week 17 Picks Against the Spread

Publish Date: December 26, 2023

NFL Week 17 is here. Picking NFL games straight up is hard enough, but picking against the spread is even tougher. Here are the NFL week 17 picks against the spread. (Spreads are from Tallysight as of Tuesday morning)

Last week: 6-10

Season: 134-99-8

Thursday Night Football

New York Jets at Cleveland Browns (-7)

The Browns are playing extremely well with Joe Flacco at quarterback. They will likely win this game, but the Jets’ defense can keep it close, especially on a short week. Trevor Siemian just needs to focus on not turning the ball over and they can keep it within a touchdown.

Pick: Jets

Saturday Night

Detroit Lions at Dallas Cowboys (-6)

Dallas has proven that they are a completely different team at home this season. They should be a little healthier this week and can get things back on track to keep the hopes of an NFC East Championship alive.

Pick: Cowboys

Sunday Afternoon

Las Vegas Raiders at Indianapolis Colts (-3)

The Raiders won over the Chiefs and will be on a short week. Indianapolis has a little more time to recover and should be able to regroup for this game to win and cover by keeping the ball on the ground.

Pick: Colts

Atlanta Falcons at Chicago Bears (-3)

Since acquiring Montez Sweat, the Bears’ defense has been completely different. They should be able to slow down the Falcons and do enough on offense to cover the small spread at home.

Pick: Bears

Carolina Panthers at Jacksonville Jaguars (-6.5)

The Jaguars have hit a skid, but they can rebound against the Panthers. Jacksonville has a banged up Trevor Lawrence, who may not play, but their defense can help them win and cover.

Pick: Jaguars

New Orleans Saints at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-3)

The Saints have more time to get ready for this game after playing on Thursday Night last week, but their offense has been too inconsistent to trust. They did score 22 against the Rams, but a lot of that was when the game was close to over.

Pick: Buccaneers

Arizona Cardinals at Philadelphia Eagles (-9.5)

Philadelphia defeated the Giants on Monday, but it was ugly. They continue to lose to good teams and have trouble covering spreads against teams they should beat. The Cardinals continue to play hard even though they are out of the playoffs.

Pick: Cardinals

San Francisco 49ers (-13.5) at Washington Commanders

The 49ers had a tough loss to the Ravens in week 16, but they should be able to bounce back quickly. Washington has nothing to play for and their defense won’t put up too much resistance for the 49ers’ offense.

Pick: 49ers

Los Angeles Rams (-6.5) at New York Giants

Tommy DeVito has been benched for Tyrod Taylor, which helped the Giants’ offense against the Eagles. They still will have trouble against the Rams, who have more to play for in the final couple of weeks.

Pick: Rams

New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills (-12.5)

New England got a win in week 16, but that likely isn’t sustainable. Buffalo returns home from a tough game against the Chargers, but should be able to get things back on track to win and cover. Doing so will help them lock up a playoff spot.

Pick: Bills

Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans (-3.5)

The Titans have turned things back to Ryan Tannehill after Will Levis was injured. Houston can win and cover at home, especially with C.J. Stroud likely returning to the lineup this week.

Pick: Texans

Miami Dolphins at Baltimore Ravens (-3)

Miami got over the hump and defeated a quality team in week 16. They can keep the momentum going against the Ravens. While the Ravens did get a big win against the 49ers, they match up better with San Francisco and will now be on a short week.

Pick: Dolphins

Sunday Evening

Pittsburgh Steelers at Seattle Seahawks (-3.5)

Pittsburgh’s offense got some life from Mason Rudolph, but that will be hard to sustain. Seattle needs to win to keep on pace for a playoff spot and can do so with a win by more than 3.5 points in this game.

Pick: Seahawks

Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs (-7.5)

The Chiefs were defeated by the Raiders on Christmas. Things don’t look good for the Chiefs and it is hard to see them finding a solution on a short week. They will likely win, but it could be a close game against the Bengals.

Pick: Bengals

Los Angeles Chargers at Denver Broncos (-5.5)

The Chargers had the boost of firing a coach to help them compete against the Bills, but that usually isn’t sustainable. Denver has struggled in the last few weeks, but now their backs are up against the wall and need to win to make the playoffs.

Pick: Broncos

Sunday Night Football

Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings (-2)

Green Bay had some life a few weeks ago, but seem to have taken a step backward the last two weeks. The Vikings still have playmakers and should be able to put up points against Joe Barry’s defense.

Pick: Vikings
