NFL Week 16 is here. Picking NFL games straight up is hard enough, but picking against the spread is even tougher. Here are the NFL week 16 picks against the spread. (Spreads are from tallysight as of Tuesday morning)
Last week: Pending, Season total: 100-107-1 (Will be updated at conclusion of week 15)
NFL Week 16 Picks Against the Spread
Thursday Night Football
San Francisco 49ers (-3.5) at Tennessee Titans
Jimmy Garropolo has played much better over the last few weeks and the 49ers have reinserted themselves back into the playoff picture. Tennessee has been struggling with injuries to their skill position players and it has started to leave the AFC South in question.
Pick: 49ers
Saturday Games
Cleveland Browns at Green Bay Packers (-7.5)
The Browns may still have COVID issues for this game. They are faltering down the stretch, while the Packers will want to make sure they win this game as they make a race for the no. 1 seed.
Pick: Packers
Indianapolis Colts at Arizona Cardinals (-1.5)
Indianapolis is starting to hit their stride. They are running the ball well with Jonathan Taylor and their defense has been very impressive. The Colts are making a run at the AFC South. Arizona has lost four of their last seven games, after starting the season hot. Indianapolis should be able to keep their hot streak alive.
Pick: Colts
Sunday Afternoon
Detroit Lions at Atlanta Falcons (-5.5)
The Lions just defeated the Cardinals for their second win of the season. They seem like they are continuing to fight for Dan Campbell. Atlanta hasn’t won a game this season by more than eight points, so it should be very close. The Falcons will likely win, but the Lions can cover.
Pick: Lions
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-10.5) at Carolina Panthers
Tampa Bay is dealing with injuries to their skill positions, but Tom Brady and the defense should still be able to win by a decent margin over the Panthers. Carolina will not have Christian McCaffrey and their quarterback situation doesn’t really allow them to compete with great teams.
Pick: Buccaneers
Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals (-2.5)
The Ravens are optimistic that Lamar Jackson can practice and potentially play in this game. They still have a lot of injuries elsewhere and on top of that, the Bengals were able to defeat them earlier in the year on the road, when the Ravens were at least a little healthier.
Pick: Bengals
Los Angeles Chargers (-8.5) at Houston Texans
Of their three wins, the Texans have defeated the Jaguars two of those times. The Chargers are in the middle of a thick AFC playoff race and need to make sure they win on the road.
Pick: Chargers
Los Angeles Rams (-3.5) at Minnesota Vikings
The Rams will be on short rest in this game, but they have fully loaded their roster for a Super Bowl run. Minnesota will have an extra day of rest, but it will be hard for them to move the ball on the Rams’ defense.
Pick: Rams
Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots (-2.5)
Buffalo may have lost to New England with 50 mph winds, but this game will be different. Josh Allen will be able to be much more effective without the weather being a major factor.
Pick: Bills
Jacksonville Jaguars at New York Jets (-2.5)
After a week to process the Urban Meyer firing, the Jaguars will be better prepared for this game. The difference in this game will be turnovers and the Jaguars can force more than the Jets to win the game.
Pick: Jaguars
New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles (-9.5)
The Eagles should win this game, but the spread is a pretty crazy number for a team that will be on four days rest. Philadelphia will win, but it should be by under 10 points, even if the Giants are without Daniel Jones.
Pick: Giants
Sunday Evening
Chicago Bears at Seattle Seahawks (-6)
The Seahawks will have one fewer day of rest for this game because of their week 15 game being rescheduled for Tuesday. Seattle only had two blowout wins this season, which came against the Texans and Jaguars. Chicago will likely lose, but keep it close.
Pick: Bears
Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City Chiefs (-9.5)
The Chiefs are starting to find their grove. With the homefield advantage, the Chiefs should be able to win and cover over the Steelers, who have only scored points in spurts this year.
Pick: Chiefs
Denver Broncos at Las Vegas Raiders (-2.5)
Las Vegas won to keep their playoff hopes alive in week 15. Denver had a tough loss to Cincinnati and will now be without Teddy Bridgewater. Drew Lock will not be able to help the Raiders pull off the upset.
Pick: Raiders
Sunday Night Football
Washington Football Team at Dallas Cowboys (-10.5)
Dallas handled the division well so far, but they have struggled to really put teams away. Washington may be on a short week, but until the Cowboys can show that they consistently finish games strong, this is too much of a spread.
Pick: Washington Football Team
Monday Night Football
Miami Dolphins at New Orleans Saints (-3.5)
New Orleans completely shut down Tom Brady in week 15. With them being at home, they should be able to do similar things to the Dolphins.
Pick: Saints
