NFL Week 12 is here. Picking NFL games straight up is hard enough, but picking against the spread is even tougher. Here are the NFL week 12 picks against the spread. (Spreads are from tallysight as of Tuesday morning)
Last week: 9-6, Season total: 77-87-1
Thanksgiving Games
Chicago Bears (-3.5) at Detroit Lions
The Lions played the Browns tough with Tim Boyle at quarterback. With Jared Goff possibly coming back and Justin Fields injured, the Lions may be able to pull off the upset on a short week.
Pick: Lions
Las Vegas Raiders at Dallas Cowboys (-7.5)
The Cowboys laid a dud against Kansas City and need to rebound. Even without star receivers, the Cowboys should be able to win and cover against the Raiders, who are in a downward spiral.
Pick: Cowboys
Buffalo Bills (-4.5) at New Orleans Saints
Since Jameis Winston went down with an injury, the Saints have been vulnerable. Buffalo has been struggling too, but should be able to come away with a win in this game.
Pick: Bills
Sunday Afternoon
Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals (-3.5)
Cincinnati picked up an ugly win over the Raiders, while the Steelers lost a shootout to the Chargers in week 11. The Bengals had the Steelers number on the road and should win at home by at least a touchdown.
Pick: Bengals
New York Jets at Houston Texans (-2.5)
This is a coinflip game, as both teams are near the bottom of the league. The Jets have shown flashes of good play this year and may be able to pick the Texans off this week.
Pick: Jets
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2.5) at Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis can run the ball, but may need able to keep up with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay passing attack. The Bucs will force Carson Wentz to play catchup, which won’t end up well for the Colts.
Pick: Buccaneers
Atlanta Falcons (-1.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars
Atlanta usually beats the teams they are supposed to beat and that would include Jacksonville on the road. It will likely come down to the wire, but the Falcons should prove they are a tad better than the Jaguars.
Pick: Falcons
Carolina Panthers (-2.5) at Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins are on fire the last few weeks. They have won three straight games with their defense playing well. Tua Tagovailoa is also playing well without the best offensive line play. Even with Cam Newton‘s return, the Dolphins should be able to win.
Pick: Dolphins
Tennessee Titans at New England Patriots (-5.5)
New England is running the ball well, but Tennessee’s defense is improved this season. No one may ever figure out how the Titans lost to the Texans in week 11, but if they refocus this week, they should be able to keep it close.
Pick: Titans
Philadelphia Eagles (-3.5) at New York Giants
Jalen Hurts is putting pressure on opposing defenses with his ability to run. He will do the same against the Giants, who are coming off a short week.
Pick: Eagles
Saturday Evening
Los Angeles Chargers (-2.5) at Denver Broncos
The Chargers’ offense showed up in week 11, but the defense was a little lackluster. Against the Broncos, the defense should be able to get back on track and help the team to another win. The Broncos will not be able to keep up.
Pick: Chargers
Los Angeles Rams at Green Bay Packers (-0.5)
This game is virtually a pick-em game. The Rams are coming off a bye and the Packers showed some vulnerability against the Chargers. Los Angeles’ offense will create some problems for a banged-up Packers’ defense.
Pick: Rams
Minnesota Vikings at San Francisco 49ers (-3.5)
San Francisco is playing better over the last few weeks. They may be able to pick up the win, but Kirk Cousins is having a career year and should keep it close.
Pick: Vikings
Sunday Night Football
Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens (-3.5)
With Lamar Jackson returning from illness and the Ravens playing a Browns’ team that is not trending in the right direction. Baltimore will win and cover if Jackson is close to 100 percent.
Pick: Ravens
Monday Night Football
Seattle Seahawks (-0.5) at Washington Football Team
Seattle is struggling this year, but as Russell Wilson gets healthier, they should start seeing some wins. With Chase Young out, Seattle’s offensive line should have an easier day.
Pick: Seahawks
