Rumors and conspiracy theories begin to spread after Tim Tebow signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a new tight end.
Tebow rejoined the NFL earlier this month, May 20, after signing a one-year deal to play as tight-end. However, many fans and those in the NFL are starting to question why the head coach of Jaguars, Urban Meyer, signed a quarterback to play tight end. Perhaps, Tebow is not playing tight-end at all. At least according to those with deep ties to the NFL.
“There are those in the league who think Urban Meyer is bringing Tebow in to play quarterback at that Taysom Hill role. Using him in that wildcat as we’ve seen him use in the past,” ESPN NFL insider Dianna Russini shared on Twitter on Thursday, May 27.
Russini, along with others in the leagues, believes that the Jaguars plan to turn Tebow into a Taysom Hill-type hybrid player.
It’s possible that this plan might actually work with news of Tebow scoring a touchdown in a Jaguar OTA.
However, many are skeptical that “the plan” will actually work
While the Jaguars are possibly remaining hopeful about Tebow, NFL fans believe “the plan” will fall flat. Mostly due to their doubts about Tebow’s ability to produce.
“Tebow was (at best) an average passer in college and an average running QB. (Check the stats). Looking at his total yards was always a reach even in college. Urban felt sorry for Tebow and this was another good old boy hire,” one fan wrote in reply to Russini’s tweet.
However, people in the NFL, think the move is actually a smart one.
“[Trevor] Lawrence better be careful, because [Tim Tebow’s] trying to become Taysom Hill!” Bart Scott said on ESPN.
As controversial as the topic of Tebow will succeed with Jacksonville, Meyers has continued to play coy with the signing of Tebow,
