NFL Draft Prospects in the 2019 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl

The bowl season gives fans and scouts alike a chance to analyze NFL Draft prospects against solid competition. The bowl season schedule allows all eyes to be on each game. Here are the NFL Draft prospects in the 2019 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

Appalachian State Mountaineers Prospects

Akeem Davis-Gaither, LB

Davis-Gaither is one of the best senior linebackers in the draft class. He has been at Appalachian State for three years and has made a huge impact over the last two seasons. The senior has 192 total tackles, 23.5 tackles for loss and six sacks in his career. This year, he has 92 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.

He is 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, so he’ll need to add some weight, but looks like he can be a decent NFL player. Davis-Gaither is a candidate to be selected in the middle rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Projected Draft Range: Fourth round-sixth round

Darrynton Evans, RB

Evans has been a running back and a utility player for the Mountaineers in his career. The junior has 2,727 rushing yards 314 receiving yards and 30 total touchdowns in his career. In 2019, Evans has 1,323 rushing yards, 193 receiving yards and 22 total touchdowns.

He has good size for an NFL back at 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds, but also has good versatility, which will come in handy. Evans may not be drafted if he declares, but could make an NFL roster.

Projected Draft Range: Seventh round-undrafted free agent

Other notable draft-eligible players: QB Zac Taylor, RB Marcus Williams, WR Keishawn Watson, WR Corey Sutton, WR Jalen Vigil, TE Collin Reed, OT Victor Johnson, LB Jordan Fehr, LB Noel Cook, S Desmond Franklin, S Josh Thomas

UAB Blazers Prospects

Brown had two great seasons to start his career at UAB to put him on the map. The third-year player has 3,083 rushing yards and 32 total touchdowns in his career. This season has seen a huge dip in production for Brown, who has 527 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

At 6-foot and 230 pounds, he has excellent size for a running back. He will need to prove he has the speed and quickness for the next level. With a down season, he may also want to consider going back to school for his senior season.

Projected Draft Range: Sixth round-undrafted free agent

Garrett Marino, DT

Marino has been with the Blazers for three seasons and has steadily improved each year. For his career, he has 89 total tackles, 29.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. This season alone, Marino has racked up 41 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks.

He will need to add some weight to his 6-foot-3, 290-pound frame, but Marino has production and good physical tools. Marino has a chance to be drafted near the end of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Projected Draft Range: Seventh round-undrafted free agent

Other Notable Draft-Eligible Players: LB Fitzgerald Mofor
