The bowl season gives fans and scouts alike a chance to analyze NFL Draft prospects against solid competition. The bowl season schedule allows all eyes to be on each game. Here are the NFL Draft prospects in the 2019 Cheez-It Bowl.
Air Force Falcons Draft Prospects
Zane Lewis, CB
Lewis has been one of the best players for the Falcons over the last two seasons. For his career, Lewis has 89 total tackles, one interception and 20 passes defended. This season Lewis has 40 total tackles, one interception and 14 passes defended.
He has ok size for the NFL at 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds. Players at service academies don’t usually make NFL rosters, but Lewis might be Air Force’s best shot.
Projected Draft Range: Undrafted free agent
Kyle Johnson, LB
Johnson is another player who has played well for Air Force the last two seasons. At Air Force, Johnson has 151 total tackles, 13 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. In 2019, Johnson has 76 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
He is a bit undersized for an NFL linebacker at 6-foot and 220 pounds. Johnson has a chance to make an NFL roster, but will more likely be serving his country next year.
Projected Draft Range: undrafted free agent
Washington State Cougars Draft Prospects
Abraham Lucas, OT
He is just a redshirt sophomore, but Lucas has played well enough to be noticed by NFL scouts. Lucas was redshirted in 2017, but started at tackle for the Cougars in a successful 2018 season. This year he has been solid for Washington State and his play led them to this bowl game.
At 6-foot-7 and 324 pounds, Lucas has solid size for the NFL. He has great experience as a pass blocker in Washington State’s offense, which will come in handy in today’s league.
Projected Draft Range: Fourth round-sixth round
Anthony Gordon, QB
Gordon is just a one-year starter, but he has impressed in his one season in Pullman. He took over for Gardner Minshew and threw for an FBS-leading 5,228 yards. The senior also threw 45 touchdowns and 16 interceptions on 71.9 percent completion.
He has ok size for an NFL quarterback at 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds. Gordon has great accuracy, but his arm strength will be questioned. With the quarterback class not being that deep, Gordon has picked up some steam.
Projected Draft Range: Fifth round-seventh round
Other notable draft-eligible players: QB Gage Gubrud, WR Davontavean Martin, WR Travell Harris, WR Brandon Arconado, WR Easop Winston, WR Dezmon Pattmon, OG/C Frederick Mauigoa, DT Lamonte McDougle, Edge Dominick Silvels, Edge Willie Taylor, Edge Will Rodgers, Edge Nnamdi Oguayo, LB Jahad Woods, LB Justin Rogers, CB Marcus Strong
