The New York Jets have placed rookie sensation Elijah Moore on Injured Reserve with a Quadriceps injury. There was chatter about him potentially not being able to play this week, but the news comes as a little bit of a surprise.
The Jets are now down their top two receivers after Corey Davis was announced to be out for the season.
On the season, the impressive rookie has 43 receptions for 538 yards and five touchdowns. He leads the Jets in every receiving category, with the exception of yards per reception. His 12.5 yards per reception trails only Davis, who was shut down for the season earlier this week and was averaging 14.5 yards per reception.
Moore has also been coming on super strong over the past six weeks. Since week 8, he has the second-most receiving yards of all rookie receivers at 459, per PFF. He only trails Jaylen Waddle, who has consistently been the number one target of Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
Moore being placed on IR means that he will not be allowed to return to action until at least Week 17, when the Jets play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
