Mathieu was drafted in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. He played there for five seasons, having a Pro Bowl and a First Team All-Pro campaign in 2015. Between his time with the Cardinals and Chiefs, he also played 16 games for the Texans. Mathieu and the Chiefs went to four straight AFC Championship Games and two Super Bowls, winning one.
He was given the “Honey Badger” nickname in college, at Louisiana State University. Mathieu had six total sacks, 93 total tackles and four interceptions during his two years in school. He also defended 16 passes and forced 11 fumbles.
