The New England Patriots have placed the franchise tag on offensive lineman Joe Thuney according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Thuney, 27, was selected in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Patriots and has developed into a solid guard.
As mentioned by Rapoport, the Patriots can now keep him or trade him if they don’t want him on the roster. If he stays on the roster, he will be a crucial part of protecting Tom Brady or a new starting quarterback for the franchise.
