New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas has been placed on IR. This stint on the injured reserve will more than likely end Thomas’ season. In the last three seasons combined, Thomas will have played just 10 games.
ESPN’s official Twitter account reported the news via Twitter on Thursday.
This will be the third year in a row Thomas will undergo an IR stint. He injured his ankle in Week 1 of 2020, then returned in Week 9 and placed back on injured reserve. He did return for the Saints’ only playoff game of that season. The same ankle injury and rehab kept him off the field for the entirety of the 2021 season.
In three games played in 2022, Thomas has collected just 16 receptions for 171 yards and three touchdowns. The three-time Pro Bowler, two-time All-Pro selection and 2019 Offensive Rookie of the Year will undergo surgery and rehab to try and return next season.
