Miami Dolphins Week 12 Game Recap

The Miami Dolphins were home this weekend as they took on the Carolina Panthers. The Dolphins looked good on both sides of the ball the whole game. This was rewarded as they got the 33-10 victory against Carolina. This is now the fourth win in a row for the Dolphins, as they have been on a hot streak recently. They are really making a statement to be one of those teams that could snag a playoff berth at the end of the season if they continue playing well. This article will recap the Miami Dolphins’ Week 12 game against the Carolina Panthers.

The Miami Defense was Great

The Dolphins’ defense really gave Cam Newton trouble all day. They were pressuring him the whole game, which forced him into some bad passes. Newton was a miserable 5/ 21 passing and had two interceptions on the day. Jevon Holland had the first interception that was intended for Robby Anderson. Holland has found a way to make his mark in every game as of late whether it is tackling or in the turnover department. The second interception went into the hands of Xavien Howard who returned the ball 16 yards to put the Dolphins in an excellent position to score. Nik Needham also had an interception off a P.J. Walker pass late in the game.

The Dolphins also did good in other areas on defense. Miami had five sacks during this game. Jaelan Phillips has three of those sacks as he has a monster of a game. Christian Wilkins and Emmanuel Ogbah had the other two sacks on the day. Miami also made a fantastic special teams play, as they blocked a Panthers’ punt in the shadow of their end zone. This resulted in Justin Coleman recovering the football and taking it into the end zone for a Miami touchdown.

Miami did a good job bottling up, Christian McCaffrey. He was held to 10 carries for 35 yards. He would get injured during the first half and never return. Overall, this was a spectacular defensive performance from the Dolphins and the whole team should be proud.

Tua Tagovailoa has a great passing day

The Carolina Panthers have one of the best passing defenses in the league. This was not an issue for Tua Tagovailoa. He was highly accurate passing as he was 27 of 31 on the day. He also passed for 230 passing yards. The Panthers usually allow less than 200 in a game. Tua really made no mistakes the entire game, besides taking two sacks. He had one touchdown pass on the day, which was to his favorite receiver, Jaylen Waddle.

Waddle had his best game all year as he had 137 yards and one touchdown on the day. Tagovailoa also utilized his tight ends most of the game, as Durham Smythe was the second leading receiver with 32 yards and Gesicki had 17 yards on the day. This was one of Tagovailoa’s best performances all year and will quiet the doubters on him being starting quarterback in the NFL.

Dolphins Running Game

Myles Gaskin had a good day rushing. He did not get as many yards as he did last week, as he came away with 49 yards rushing. He did, however, score two touchdowns during this game. They were short touchdown rushes within the goal line. Newly acquired running back Phillip Lindsay was also a big part of this Dolphins rushing attack. He had 42 yards on the day and mostly split the carries with Gaskin. Lindsay is mostly a power back and gets most of his yardage through rough and tough running. The Dolphins ended the day with 111 rushing yards as a whole. This concludes this recap of the Miami Dolphins’ Week 12 game against the Panthers.
