The Miami Dolphins have been stripped of their 2023 first-round pick and 2024 second-round pick for violating the integrity of the game. Owner Stephen Ross is also suspended until October 17 and fined $1.5 million according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The decision comes down after the Dolphins had contact with Tom Brady while he was under contract with the New England Patriots and when he was under contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Miami also had impermissible contact with Sean Payton’s agent to coach the Dolphins before he decided to retire. They needed to get consent to speak with Payton’s representatives from the New Orleans Saints.
Dolphins’ Vice Chairman Bruce Beal was also fined $500,000.
The NFL did not find any evidence of tanking, which Brian Flores alleged happened.
