The Colts had a need at quarterback after trading away Carson Wentz this offseason. Now, Ryan will take over a roster that was a win away from the playoffs in 2021.
Atlanta will incur over $40 million in dead cap from the trade. They save over $9 million against the cap, but are now set for a rebuild. They have the eighth overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Ryan, 36, was a former third overall pick by the Falcons in the 2008 NFL Draft. He has 59,735 yards, 367 touchdowns and 170 interceptions on 65.5 percent completion in his career. In 2021, he passed for 3,968 yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on 67 percent completion.
