Changes continue to plague the Raiders through 2023 as the team has cut a veteran cornerback. Marcus Peters has been released by Las Vegas after signing with the team in July. The move saves the team $1.5 million in incentives that would’ve likely been paid to Peters.
The Athletic’s Vic Tafur reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Peters was chosen 18th overall in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. He won the Defensive Rookie of the Year award that same year. He’s also been selected to the First and Second All-Pro Teams twice.
In 12 games so far this season he has one interception, which he returned 75 yards for a touchdown along with 43 combined tackles. Three times throughout his career, Peters has led the entire league in interception return yards. He can now be picked up on waivers.
