Madden 22: Most Overrated Arizona Cardinals

The Madden 22 ratings have finally been unveiled. As always, there are some questionable ratings for players on every single team. In this series, TGH writers will give their opinions on the most overrated and underrated players on each roster.

Here are the players on the Arizona Cardinals that have been the most overrated by Madden 22.

Markus Golden

Markus Golden was great in his tenure with the Giants, but it appears to have been a one-time thing as he only grabbed 30 total tackles in 2020 compared to 72 in 2019. He’s back in Arizona now, but statistically, he’s been average with the Bird Gang.

Not to mention it’s a bit more crowded in the linebacker position, with Zaven Collins and Isaiah Simmons expected to show out. Golden’s going to be on the outside, so he’ll have a chance to get back on track. But at the least, he needs to keep up with the younger players’ production.

James Conner

Easy now, put the pitchforks down for a second, please. James Conner is a good player, but 80 feels just a hair too much based on his 2020 results. It’s only a slight tweak as the vast majority of the Cardinals players have appropriate enough ratings.

Conner played admirably well in 2020 and that’s taking into account how horrid the Steelers run game was.

His full potential could’ve been so much more if that facet of offense wasn’t so poorly managed. Not to mention Conner had to miss time due to COVID-19.

Madden 22 rating: 80
Adjusted rating: 78 (-2)

Jalen Thompson

Jalen Thompson hasn’t done enough to warrant his 76 overall rating. In two seasons with Arizona, he’s only played 15 games, racking up 76 tackles and one interception. His ankle injury during Week 1 of 2020 kept him out for some time, explaining his limited numbers.

The previous Madden game listed Thompson as a 73. Through five total games that season, there’s hardly any indication that Thompson’s production proved to justify this new rating. Thompson’s also the highest-rated free safety on the Cardinals, so 76 will be a very awkward look if he cannot stay healthy.

Madden 22 rating: 76
Adjusted rating: 72 (-4)
