With the 2022 NFL schedules coming out TGH looks at the Kansas City Chiefs Key matchups in the upcoming season.
Right out of the gate Kansas City will take on the division rival Chargers. This is an ultra-important game to start the season as these two teams are the front runners in the AFC West and maybe the AFC in general. Kansas City is coming into the 2022 season as the favorites to win the AFC West, but the Chargers have been aggressive this offseason adding key players such as Khalil Mack. There is no doubt that this will be an offensive game as both teams have young prospering franchise quarterbacks in Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert.

This is the biggest test for the Chiefs season. This game will show if they can overcome the key losses from the offseason and still be one of the league’s most feared teams. The Buccaneers are coming into the 2022 season as strong as ever with the return of Tom Brady after his short-lived retirement. The Buccaneers didn’t return to the Super Bowl last year arguably only due to injuries in the postseason. This game is a very difficult matchup for the Chiefs because Tampa Bay has the defensive personnel to stop their biggest weapon in Travis Kelce. The big question in this game will be if the Chiefs’ defense can do enough to allow their offense to get in a rhythm and win the game.
This game will be marked on everyone’s schedules. In the playoffs last season this matchup changed the history of the NFL’s overtime rules. Both teams’ defenses couldn’t stop anything as the game ended up coming down to a coin flip. Expect much of the same action in this year’s game. Emotions will be running high and this game has the possibility of deciding the number one or two seeds in the playoffs. This game will be a high-scoring affair as last year’s game and will be one of the best games to watch in all of the 2022 NFL season. Mahomes and Josh Allen will be an exciting rivalry to watch for the next 10 years and every matchup they have in the near future will be must-watch games.
A rematch of last year’s AFC Championship game. This is a matchup of the future of the AFC. The Bengals hold many of the best young players in the NFL and expect to make a similar run as last year. Although nobody knows what to expect from the former AFC Champions, this matchup still holds value as many of the young superstars in the league will face off in a rematch of last year’s championship game. This game may be a close matchup that is not as high-scoring as many may think. Both teams have a middle of the pack but promising defenses that could prove formidable in this matchup similar to how it played out last year.
