Linebacker K.J. Wright has announced his retirement. Ahead of his retirement, Wright will sign a one-day contract with the Seattle Seahawks, who drafted him and with whom he won a Super Bowl ring. This allows him to retire a Seahawk.

The Seahawks’ Twitter account tweeted out a video of an emotional Wright signing that one-day contract with Seattle.

Wright was selected with the 99th pick in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Seahawks. After 10 seasons there, he signed a one-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders. He played out that contract, and will have only spent one year of his professional career outside of Seattle.

He was a member of the feared “Legion of Boom” defense that got the Seahawks to back-to-back Super Bowls following the 2013 and 2014 seasons. Wright and that defense won the first of those Super Bowls. He has exactly one Pro Bowl selection under his belt, in 2016.
