All-Pro edge rusher Justin Houston has reached an agreement with the Baltimore Ravens.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the story today, July 31.
“Former All-Pro edge rusher Justin Houston reached an agreement on a one-year deal worth up to $4 million with the Baltimore Ravens, per sources. Houston turned down significantly more money from other teams in order to pursue a championship with the Ravens, per source.” Schefter tweeted. Houston’s deal is broken down as a $1 million signing bonus on top of a $1.075 million base salary.
The former free-agent was a solid asset for the Indianapolis Colts during the 2019 and 2020 seasons. He led the way with 19.0 sacks over that span and 97.5 over the course of his career. He also secured his four-time Pro Bowl selections by leading the NFL in sacks in 2014.
Houston will join s Pernell McPhee, Tyus Bowser, Jaylon Ferguson and first-round pick Odafe Oweh on the Ravens defense.
While the Steelers are rebuilding their offense, the Ravens seem to be upgrading their already strong defense.
The Steelerwire quoted Houston ” isn’t the player he once was but does provide an upgrade to the Ravens defense.”
Both teams face off later in the season on December 5, 2021.
