Julian Blackmon is out for the season with a torn Achilles, which was suffered in Wednesday’s practice according to ESPN’s Field Yates.
Blackmon, 23, is a promising young safety in the league. In six games played this season, he finished with 34 total tackles, two tackles for loss, one pass defended and one forced fumble. This comes after his rookie year, when he started 14 games as a third-round pick.
Now the Colts will rely on backup safeties Andrew Sendejo and George Odum moving forward.
For a team with playoff aspirations before the season, the Colts will need other players to step up. They currently have a 2-4 record.
