Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor has not backed down in seeking a trade away from the team. He has just one game left on his mandatory four-game absence via the Physically Unable to Perform list.
NFL insider Dov Kleiman helped shed light on Taylor’s situation via Twitter on Wednesday.
Reporting indicates that the Colts have no interest in signing Taylor, one of the most productive running backs in the league over the last few years, to a long term deal. This was a topic of discussion over the offseason, as many running backs started holdouts or refused to sign franchise tenders without a plan for a long-term contracts in place.
Taylor finished 2020 (his rookie year) with 1,169 yards and 11 touchdowns. His follow up season saw him lead the league in rushing attempts (332), yards (1,811) and touchdowns (18). In 2022, behind a bad offensive line, he still managed 861 yards but lost six games due to injury.
