Free agent defensive lineman JJ Watt has decided to sign with the Arizona Cardinals according to posts made on his social media pages.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Watt will sign a two-year, $31 million deal with the team. Of the $31 million, $23 million of it is guaranteed.
Watt, 31, is a five-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro who spent his first 10 seasons in the league with the Texans. His play earned him the honors of 2012, 2014 and 2015 Defensive Player of the Year. He has 101 sacks and 172 tackles for loss in his career.
Watt will join the Cardinals, who run the 3-4 defense, which is what he has been familiar with throughout his career. He will look to make the Cardinals even better defensively after they ranked 12th last season, allowing 22.9 points per game.
The Cardinals went 8-8 last season and with Kyler Murray, DeAndre Hopkins and now Watt on the roster, they will look to become Super Bowl contenders.
