The Jets already have a replacement for rookie running back Breece Hall, who suffered a torn ACL in Week 7. In a pre-deadline trade, the Jets are acquiring James Robinson for a conditional sixth round pick that can become a fifth-rounder.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
As stated above, the sixth round pick that the Jaguars are receiving in return for Robinson can become a fifth round pick if a certain requirement is met. If he rushes for 600 yards this season, then the draft pick moves up a round. He has already rushed for 340 yards in seven games. He’ll need 260 yards in the last 10 games of the season for the Jags to recoup even more value.
Robinson also has three touchdowns this season and one 100-yard rushing performance (Week 3). It became clear that Jacksonville would trade the young back after he did not get a single carry in Week 8’s loss.
