Jets Franchise Tag Marcus Maye

The New York Jets have placed their franchise tag on safety Marcus Maye. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news via Twitter on Monday evening.

Marcus Maye was the Jets’ first round pick (sixth overall) in 2017. Since being drafted he has collected six career interceptions, 2.5 sacks and 266 tackles. He has also forced four fumbles, and recovered one, but has no career defensive touchdowns.

He owns the NFL record for longest interception without scoring a touchdown; 104 yards. Maye played his college ball at LSU, suiting up every year until his senior year.

The exact specifications of the contract are unavailable at time of writing. Stay tuned to TGH for more NFL free agency breaking news!
