The Jets’ new left tackle will not be able to play Week 1. Duane Brown, who was signed in August of 2022, has suffered a shoulder injury that may land him on injured reserve past Week 1’s game against the Ravens.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Friday.
Brown was selected in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. He played there for 10 seasons before joining the Seattle Seahawks for five more. The 37-year-old was brought in as a replacement for Mekhi Becton, who is out for the season with injury.
He was selected to the First Team All-Pro in 2012, and has made the Second Team All-Pro two more times (2011 and 2018). Brown has also made the Pro Bowl five times. The details of his contract are unknown, including whether or not an amount of games played contributes to his guaranteed salary.
