The Philadelphia Eagles have locked up their quarterback for five more seasons. Jalen Hurts and the Eagles have come to an agreement on a five-year, $255 million contract extension, with almost $180 million in guarantees.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Hurts was taken by the Eagles in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma (and Alabama). In college, he and Alabama famously won a College Football Playoff National Championship after Hurts was benched in favor of Tua Tagovailoa.
He played in 15 games last season, making the Pro Bowl, Second Team All-Pro and finishing second and third respectively in MVP and Offensive Player of the Year voting. Hurts led the Eagles to the Super Bowl combining his throwing and running abilities for 35 total touchdowns.
