Former Tampa Bay offensive coordinator and NFL quarterback Byron Leftwich is close to being ired by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Leftwich will likely be the Jags’ next head coach after Urban Meyer was fired midseason for a multitude of reasons.
Arizona Cardinals reporter Mike Jurecki reported the news via Twitter on Thursday.

Meyer was fired after failing to leave Ohio on the team plane ahead of their bye week, following that up with a scandal in which a woman was seen dancing on him at his bar in Columbus. Then, on top of a bad record, was accused of kicking his kicker in his injured leg, and calling his staff “losers.”
Leftwich played with the Jaguars during his quarterback days. He is a known celebrity there, and now has a Super Bowl ring on his resume. He also received the opportunity to coach Tom Brady, whom most would consider the best quarterback of all time. Leftwich could be able to take that knowledge and apply it to first overall pick Trevor Lawrence in Jacksonville.
