Is Taylor Swift the New Brand Ambassador for the NFL?

Publish Date: September 25, 2023

Taylor Swift is an international and generational icon. Hands down, no argument. The 12-time Grammy Award-winning artist recently came off her Eras Tour traveling across North America generating over a billion dollars. And that was just her first leg of the Eras Tour. Her second leg tour in 2024 could earn over $2.2 billion. Which would make it the highest-grossing tour ever. Swift cementing herself as one of the biggest cultural icons of all time has made her more and more popular in the sports world. Especially after being seen with two-time Superbowl champion Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Swift is Already an Athlete

During her Eras Tour, Swift’s performances were jaw-dropping not just because of the set but also because she was able to be on her feet constantly for three hours and sing 44 songs during each show. That takes a huge toll on one’s physical body. Not to mention the mental toughness she has having to do this on back-to-back nights. Her performances even got the respect of former NFL star J.J. Watt.

Swift’s resume in the Sports World

Athletes have always loved Swift for a while now; some players are more vocal than others. Miami Heat forward/guard Jimmy Butler has not been shy about his love for Swift. Back in 2014, while playing with the Chicago Bulls, Butler went viral for singing and dancing to Swift’s song “22” in the locker room.

In a 2015 Rolling Stone Magazine interview, Butler was asked if he was a fan of Swift. Butler noted that
“I am a T-Swift fan. I’m going to see her in San Diego in August. I’m not going to say I’m gonna be in the back screaming but…I didn’t say I wouldn’t.” Butler has one of the best personalities in the NBA and is proud to be a “Swifty.”

Swift and the NFL

Swift’s relationship with the sports world, specifically the NFL skyrocketed during her Eras Tour. Not only did Swift play in 20 different NFL stadiums, but multiple NFL players have listed their favorite Swift songs.

Belichick Stamp of Approval

Even Bill Belichick, one of the greatest coaches in NFL and sports history was a fan of Swift.

The NFL is full of “Swifties”, but the biggest might be Travis Kelce.

Swift and Kelce, the NFL’s “Love Story”

Anyone know how to get a bracelet to Taylor Swift? … asking for a friend 😅

In late July, on his podcast “New Heights” which he co-hosts with his brother Jason, Kelce went to Swift’s Concert at Arrow Head Stadium in Kansas City. He failed to give Swift his phone number on a friendship bracelet, which bummed him out. Following that news, there were speculations across social media that the singer and NFL player were hanging out. It wasn’t until the September 24th Chiefs game vs the Chicago Bears that this “Love Story” came to life. Swift was at the game sitting in a suite cheering on Kelce with his mom Donna.

They left the stadium tunnel together and drove off in Kelce’s car after the game. Kelce rented out a whole restaurant for a private post-game party for Swift and his team. The relationship between the two stars has made fans from both the NFL and Swift go nuts.

The NFL’s TikTok account made sure that people knew Swift had attended a game.

Keep This Story Going

Some say this is all a publicity stunt for the NFL and Swift to gain more attention. This is good attention for the NFL and hopefully, more swifties will become football fans. Ultimately, this is one love story you cannot write. NFL fans hope to see her cheering on at more games. Fans on both sides of the relationship only hope is that Kelce doesn’t fumble the biggest catch of his career.
