Is Pittsburgh’s Najee Harris Overdoing It In Practice?

Publish Date: June 21, 2021
Pittsburgh Steeler draft pick, Najee Harris overdoing it in practice has drawn the eye of teammates and coaches.
Earlier last week, the Steelers sent Harris home for “working too hard” on the field. A report from June 18 confirmed that running back coach, Eddie Faulkner had to send Harris home because of his hyper fixation on football.
I’m for all the hard work and the extra,” Faulkner said in a press conference. “I’m all here for that. I love it. But he also has to learn – part of Najee and getting to know Najee in the draft process is he also has to learn how to give himself breaks, too. He works his butt off, and sometimes it’s a reward, like, ‘Hey, man, go home. Relax. Watch TV. Do something different than football.’ And so with him being the kind of guy he is and so engaged and always after it, always wants to do drills, always wants to be developing, sometimes I’m trying to teach him sometimes you got to take a deep breath. “
Harris himself added that his plan was to put in extra work not only as a wide receiver but also as a running back earlier in May.
Despite getting set home, however, some Steelers are impressed with Harris’s ability during the mini-camp

Steelers defense impressed with Najee Harris

While Harris’s focus on football is concerning the coaches, his teammates are impressed with the way he plays. Including his teammate on the defensive squad Minkah Fitzpatrick.

“As a player, he’s a competitor. I love playing him. he’s fast and he’s challenging us in the backfield.” Fitzpatrick said to reporters.

He also added that Harris has a “you’re not gonna outwork me” attitude.
