The Chargers will not use the franchise tag on tight end Hunter Henry according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Henry will now be a free agent.
Henry was drafted in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Chargers. Although he missed the 2018 season with a torn ACL, Henry has amassed 196 catches for 2,322 yards and 21 touchdowns with the team.
For the Chargers, they will likely be looking for a tight end to help out Justin Herbert, who is coming off a fantastic rookie season.
If he were franchise tagged, Henry would have made over $10 milion for the 2021 season.
