The NFL regular season is almost here. On September 11, the 2023 NFL season kicks off, so here is a look at the highest paid players at each position, as it stands at time of writing. Each player listed is the most highly paid per year. Meaning, the amount of total money on certain players contracts could be higher than those listed here. But the players listed have the highest yearly earnings.
Lamar Jackson ,Baltimore Ravens- $52.5 million/year
It is very likely that Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals will eclipse this number once he’s given a new contract this season, which is expected. Justin Herbert will make $500,000 more than Jackson yearly starting in 2024.
Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins – $30 million/year
Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco 49ers – $16 million/year
Running backs have been struggling to be paid in the 2023 offseason. Josh Jacobs is holding out for a new contract, but is expected to accept the franchise tender. Jonathan Taylor is also unhappy with his current contract. If these players are traded, it is possible that their new teams could pay them more yearly than the 49ers are paying McCaffrey
Darren Waller, New York Giants – $17 million
Kyle Juszczyk, San Francisco 49ers – $5.4 million
Laremy Tunsil, Houston Texans – $25 million
Aaron Donald, Los Angeles Rams – $31.7 million
Chris Jones of the Chiefs is also holding out in hopes of a new contract. It seems unlikely that he’ll be traded or outright refuse to play if he isn’t given one, but if he is, it’s possible that he’ll be paid more than Donald yearly.
T.J. Watt, Pittsburgh Steelers – $28 million
Roquan Smith, Baltimore Ravens – $20 million
Jaire Alexander, Green Bay Packers – $21 million
Although he’s nearing the back end of his prime, Jalen Ramsey could rework his contract to be paid more than Alexander after this year concludes, as he’s with a new team.
Derwin James, Los Angeles Chargers – $19 million
Justin Tucker, Baltimore Ravens – $6 million
Michael Dickson, Seattle Seahawks – $3.68 million
Zach Wood, New Orleans Saints – $1.58 million
