The Green Bay Packers have waived quarterback Kurt Benkert according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Benkert, 26, was with the Packers for the 2021 season. Before that, he was on the Atlanta Falcons after being an undrafted free agent in the 2018 NFL Draft.
So far in his career, his only NFL game action has been to go in for the victory formation.
The move leaves the Packers with three quarterbacks on their roster heading into the preseason: Aaron Rodgers, Jordan Love and Danny Etling. Rodgers will man his usual spot under center, while Love will back him up and Etling will provide depth.
