The Giants have signed former Cowboys and Packers linebacker Jaylon Smith to their practice squad. Since this is a practice squad signing, he will have to be elevated to the active roster to see game action with the Giants.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday.
Smith played his college football at the University of Notre Dame, and was drafted in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He played four full seasons with the Cowboys before bouncing around to the Packers and Giants in 2021. Smith had to re-sign with the Giants’ practice squad in 2022.
In 2019, Smith was selected to his only Pro Bowl. He has 10 career sacks, 536 combined tackles, two interceptions and 21 pass deflections on his career. He also has forced six fumbles, recovering five. Smith played 10 games for three different teams last season.
