FaZe Clan took on AMP Exclusive in a NFL Celebrity Football game and fell short of a win.
It is dubbed as the NFL flag-football matchup of the century, FaZe Clan lost vs AMP in a matchup streamed on Twitch. Each team was made up of members from both esport team FaZe and sports/gaming YouTube based AMP. The headliners of both teams were Brett Farve and Micheal Vick, quarterbacks for FaZe and AMP respectively.
Brett Farve is best known for his time spent as quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, where he led the team a victory in Super Bowl XXXI. Michael (“Mike”) Vick is known for his time as quarterback of both the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles, and perhaps as the greatest Madden character of all time. Though both have been retired from the NFL for the better part of the last decade, the excitement to see them compete buzzed around the gaming and football community. The game took place at the site of Super Bowl XLV, where the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals will play tomorrow.
The game started off with a bang with Farve connecting with Nate Hill for a deep pass leading to a touchdown. Vick would soon respond with a deep pass of his own to put AMP on the board for the first time. After a Farve to Kaysan (FaZe) connection in the red zone for a touchdown, he would again later connect with Temperrr (FaZe) in the redzone again. Vick continued to show great touch over the deep ball, hitting ImDukeDennis (AMP) in stride though dropping an almost spectacular one-handed catch (see Odell Beckham Jr’s 2014 catch).
With two pick-6s and almost the flag football catch of the century, ImDukeDennis clearly stood out as the top player in the game. His game-changing plays and high energy (backflipping and hitting the Griddy Dance in celebration similar to Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson) helped AMP roll to a 51-24 victory over FaZe. Vick put on a deep ball clinic while completing deep passes to multiple receivers on AMP and putting 51 points on the scoreboard. Though FaZe lost, Farve still showed he holds true to his gunslinger playstyle while completing a number of deep balls and throwing two pick-6s in the game.
Serving as the headline of the NFL Superbowl Experience, the celebrity flag football game between FaZe and AMP drew over 80,000 viewers and created a fun event for fans of football and gaming.
