The Minnesota Vikings are preparing to re-sign defensive end Everson Griffen. The deal has not been accomplished yet, but the two sides are expected to agree on a new contract before the regular season begins.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Griffen spent 2010-2019 in Minnesota before spending 2020 with both the Dallas Cowboys, then moving to the Detroit Lions via trade. He had six total sacks and four passes defended with the two teams last season, along with 33 combined tackles.
His best season came in 2017, in which he racked up 13 sacks, 45 combined tackles and three forced fumbles. Griffen has also made the Pro Bowl four times, in 2015-2017 and 2019. He is now on the way back to the team on which he made a name for himself.
