Houston Rockets guard Eric Gordon will miss about six weeks after having knee surgery on Wednesday.
Head coach Mike D’Antoni announced on Tuesday that an MRI on Gordon’s knee revealed enough “debris” to warrant a surgery. Gordon could have refused the procedure, but elected to have his knee cleaned up.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania confirmed Gordon will miss about six weeks.

D’Antoni also mentioned that Eric Gordon’s knee was bothering him since last season. This is probably why he elected to have the surgery.
The former Sixth Man of the Year played in 68 of 82 games last season, starting in 53 of them. He averaged 16.2 points per game while shooting just under 41 percent from the field. With the new-look Rockets’ tandem of Westbrook and Harden, Gordon is still coming off the bench in most contests. Due in part to how ball-dominant both former-MVPs tend to be.
Missing Gordon for over a month may hurt the Rockets’ depth, but it may not damage their bottom line. Being that this surgery is taking place so early in the season, Houston can bounce back from any slip-ups that Gordon may have prevented.
The Rockets continue their season on Wednesday at home against the Clippers, who may have Paul George in their lineup for the first time.
