Emmanuel Sanders has officially announced his retirement from the NFL after 13 seasons in the league. He played for five teams during his NFL tenure and managed to win the Super Bowl during the 2014-2015 season.
ESPN’s Field Yates reported the news via Twitter on Wednesday.
Sanders declared for the draft in 2010, and was drafted with the 82nd overall pick in the third round. He played for four seasons in Pittsburgh, six seasons in Denver, 10 games in San Francisco, one season in New Orleans, then finally one season in Buffalo.
He made the Pro Bowl twice, in 2014 and 2016. Sanders’ 2021 season saw him play in 14 games (13 starts), grabbing 42 receptions for 626 yards and four touchdowns. As far as final seasons go, Sanders’ was pretty productive. He plans to go out before he can no longer be seen as a contributing offensive factor.
