Early Eagles Season Predictions: Part Two

Publish Date: June 12, 2021

This is the Early Eagles Season Prediction: Part Two. This article features predictions on the Eagles games against the Chiefs, Panthers and the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This is a tough three game stretch for the Eagles. The only saving grace is that the Eagles will be home for their two toughest games of the season. The Eagles will need all hands-on deck to get wins from this stretch. Winning all three of these games would put the Eagles in a great position early on in the season, with the possibility of being a playoff contender. Here is the analysis and prediction of these three key games early in the season.

Chiefs vs Eagles, 10/3, 1 pm

The Eagles are at home for this key game against the Kansas City Chiefs. These two teams are in totally different positions going into the season. The Eagles are in the middle of a rebuild, while the Chiefs will be looking to make a run for another Super Bowl title. The key for the Eagles in this game is defense. The defensive line will need to control the line of scrimmage and try to make former MVP Patrick Mahomes as uncomfortable as possible in the pocket. Brandon Graham and Fletcher Cox will need to create some magic and provide a couple of sacks to slow down a potent Chiefs offense.

Darius Slay is also another key to this game. He will be challenged with covering Tyreek Hill, who is speedy and dangerous. If Slay can keep him in check, then the Eagles have a shot. The offense will also need to keep up with the Chiefs in point production. This can be done with a mix of the run and pass and when the time is right, hit the chiefs defense with play action.

Prediction: Chiefs Win: 28-14

Eagles vs Panthers, 10/10, 1 pm

This is the most winnable game in this three-game stretch for the Eagles. The Eagles will have to travel to Charlotte and take on Christian McCaffrey and the Panthers. The key to this game for the Eagles is also defense, which starts with the defensive line and the line backers. They will need to slow down McCaffrey and try to bottle him most of the game. He will get big runs, but as long as they keep him at a minimum, then Philadelphia should be okay.

The Panthers will also feature Sam Darnold, who was traded from the Jets earlier in the off season. The Eagles can’t underestimate him as he has all the talent to give that Philadelphia defense fits. The predicted starter Jalen Hurts will just need to play good football and find open receivers. Miles Sanders should be able to break off some good runs against the Carolina defense and have a big game. The Eagles should win this game, but it will not be comfortable for Eagles fans throughout the game.

Prediction: Eagles Win: 28-24

Buccaneers vs Eagles, 10/14, 8:20 pm

The final game of this stretch is against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs are loaded with their legendary quarterback and their dominant tight end Rob Gronkowski. They also have Antonio Brown who the Eagles will need to keep in check. The Eagles secondary is the key to this game. Darius Slay and the secondary will need to play lock down coverage on the Buccaneers receivers. They will also need to find way to get turnovers and rattle Brady a little bit.

The Eagles offense needs to focus on their running game. Miles Sanders and Boston Scott need to wear down the Bucs defense. Once the run is established, the Eagles can open up the field and hit receivers such DeVonta Smith and Jalen Reagor. Dallas Goedert would also be great if Hurts can find him using play action. This is a tough game for the Eagles in a prime-time spot at home, but the Bucs should be able to win this game comfortably.

Prediction: Buccaneers Win: 31-10

Eagles Record after part one and part two: 2-4

This concludes Early Eagles Season Predictions: Part Two. Be sure to check back next week for part three of this series.
