Early Eagles Season Predictions: Part 5

Publish Date: June 27, 2021

The Eagles are fully going into their conference schedule after one last date with a familiar out of conference foe in the New York Jets. The Jets were one of the worst teams in 2020, as they only won two games in their 2020 campaign. They are going into 2021 with Zach Wilson, who was an absolute stud in his time at BYU. The other two games that will be covered in part five will be the Washington Football Team and the New York Giants. All three of these opponents are winnable games for the Eagles. This is part five of the Early Eagles Season Predictions series.

Look at part one, part twopart three and part four of the earlier editions of Early Eagles Predictions here!

Eagles vs. Jets, 12/5, 1 PM

This game against the Jets will take place in New York on what will surely be a cold day in the Big Apple. Wilson will most likely be the starter going into this game as he is the Jets best option at winning. The Jets also feature other offensive stars such as Corey Davis and Denzel Mims at the receiving portions. The Jets also have some pretty good defensive players in Quinnen Williams and CJ Mosley.

The Eagles need to focus on being balanced and focusing on the running and passing attack. Running the ball with Eagles breakout running back Miles Sanders can only set up good things in play action. Getting the ball to Dallas Goedert will be key in the Eagles getting the extra yards and moving the sticks. The Jets have a tough defense and should not be overlooked because of their tough year in 2020. The Jets were plagued by injuries involving some of their top stars. Hurts and the Eagles should have enough fire power to pull through this game with a close win.

Prediction: Eagles Win: 20-17

Washington Football Team vs Eagles, 12/19, TBD

This will be Philadelphia’s first meeting against Washington in 2021. The Eagles will have them at home for this game and will have to face them soon after in Washington. Going into this 2021 season, Washington doesn’t seem like they are shaping up for a playoff season. They feature Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback who has shown moments of brilliance in past seasons. The long-time quarterback has just never been able to break through as a full-blown NFL starter. Washington also has Terry McLauren who has speed and excellent route running. Chase Young is by far one of the best players on that roster and who is their star defensive end.

As long as the Eagles can play good football and prevent turning the ball over, then the Eagles should have a good chance at winning. Hurts should try to get the ball to DeVonta Smith and see what kind of show Smith can put on in Philadelphia. This will also be the first time Ryan Kerrigan faces off against his old team. He should also be ready to put on a show and make some explosive tackles. Sirianni said he wanted explosiveness at the beginning of the off season. The Eagles should do just that and make a statement of their arch rivals from Washington.

Prediction: Eagles Win: 31-10

Giants vs. Eagles, 12/26, 1 PM

It was predicted earlier in this series that the Eagles would lose their first game against the Giants. This should be a Christmas present for the Eagles, as they should be all for seeking retribution. The Eagles have already seen them once and will have a better game plan going into this game. The Eagles also have home field advantage. This is bold, but the Eagles will go on a three game winning streak during this stretch and will make things interesting in the NFC East. Their defense is what will lead them to this victory against the Giants. Look for the defensive line to cause havoc as they will try to rough up Daniel Jones and force turnovers.

Prediction: Eagles Win: 28-21

Eagles record after part five: 8-7

This concludes Early Eagles Season Predictions: Part Five.
