The Eagles are 4-5, as part four of the Early Eagles Season Predictions gets out. Philadelphia’s next three games involve facing the Broncos in Denver, the Saints and the Giants. All three of these are winnable games for the Eagles. The Broncos are coming into the season with a quarterback competition involving Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock, as they seem to be looking for their starter. The Saints are without Drew Brees and will be looking to start this new era with a bang. If the Saints can find three starting quarterbacks, then they could surely make the playoffs this year. Lastly, the Giants have Daniel Jones and star running back Saquon Barkley, who will be looking to get in the thick of the NFC East race.
Look at part one, part two, and part three of the earlier editions of Early Eagles Predictions here!
Eagles vs Broncos, 11/14, 4:25 PM
This is another game that the Eagles should be able to win. The Eagles do travel to Denver for this game, which is never an easy task with the mountain air. The Broncos bring back Von Miller, who is still a monster for his age and can be a factor in games. The downfall for the Broncos is the quarterback position. They do not have a clear-cut starter as Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock are the most likely candidates. The Eagles defense will have to make whoever will be quarterback uncomfortable in the pocket and force turnovers. The defense will also have to contain Gordon, who is a key factor in the Broncos winning this game. The Eagles win this game in a very close defensive battle.
Prediction: Eagles Win: 17-14
Saints vs Eagles, 11/21, 1 PM
This game is very interesting. The Eagles beat the Saints last year with Drew Brees at the helm. No folks, Carson Wentz was not at the helm, but Hurts was during that battle. The Saints were a playoff team then, and still are now even without Drew Brees. Taysom Hill or Jameis Winston will more than likely be the starter for that game.
New Orleans also has Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas on the team who are both formidable players on the Saints offense. The Eagles will also have to deal with Cameron Jordan on defense, who can get after the quarterback any time he wants. Philadephia will need to keep wide receiver Michael Thomas in check, so Darius Slay will probably take on that challenge. They will also need to find a way to stop Kamara and the running attack, which Alex Singleton and the other Eagles linebackers are capable of doing. This game is a toss-up because of the Saints unknown at quarterback, but they should find a way to keep Hurts and the Eagles at bay.
Prediction: Saints Win: 24-14
Eagles vs Giants, 11/28, 1 PM
The Eagles will be facing the Jets and all NFC East Opponents after that. Their first test will being getting the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium. This game seems like a game where the Eagles can pull off a win, but Daniel Jones seems to be getting better as time progresses and Saquon Barkley will be back after a season ending injury last year. The Giants also have Kenny Golladay at receiver and rookie Kadarius Toney. The Eagles again will need to play great defense if they want a shot at this game. The key to beating the Giants will be to keep their running attack at a minimum, and forcing Jones into making mistakes. Hurts will need to find a way to burn the Giants secondary and take some shots down field. Miles Sanders and Boston Scott will also need to run the ball consistently. Unfortunately though, the Eagles do not win this matchup against the Giants at MetLife.D
Prediction: Giants Win: 28-24
Eagles record after Part 4: 5-7
This concludes Early Eagles Season Predictions: Part Four. Be on the lookout for part five this coming week.
