Defensive tackle Adam Butler has signed a two-year contract with the Miami Dolphins. The former Patriot will stay in the AFC East and add to an already stout defensive line with other young talent.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport was the first to break the news via Twitter on Wednesday afternoon.
Butler was an undrafted free agent who signed with the Patriots in 2017. He was a member of the Patriots team that won Super Bowl 53 over the Los Angeles Rams and the team that lost to the Eagles in Super Bowl 52.
He has an 15 sacks in his four NFL seasons, along with 96 total tackles, nine passes defended and one forced fumble. Impressive numbers for a young player who did not see the field too much due to the Patriots’ considerable defensive line talent.
The Dolphins have locked up Butler for two years. Stay tuned for more 2021 NFL free agency updates as the run on players continues.
